A Robin Hoods Bay Sunrise.

A couple of weeks ago now I was up early one Monday morning and decided to head to Robin Hoods Bay for sunrise. Although the start of the day was not phenomenal in terms of pre dawn colour, the sun did make for a few good Photographs over Bay and Fylingthorpe once it showed its face.

The Yorkshire Coast Seals Of Ravenscar Seal Colony.

As I was out of bed and actually feeling quite energetic for a Monday morning I decided to head to Ravenscar to see the seals.
Rather than park in Ravenscar itself I headed to Stoupe Beck and walked along the shoreline back to the seal colony below the cliffs at Ravenscar. The walk really is very beautiful and the cliff waterfall at the area we know as Little Bay really is stunning.

As I arrived at the seal colony there was a huge number of seals tight to the cliff bottoms, I managed a few photographs of the colony as a whole, and despite the poor light (The whole area is in shade at this time of year), I was quite pleased with this shot showing just a small proportion of the seals that were on the shoreline that morning.

Ravenscar Seals On The Yorkshire Coast

As usual I took the majority of the photographs with my tele-focal Lens ranging from 100 to 570mm, meaning you can get decent close ups of these beautiful animals without disturbing them too much.

The majority of the seals were more than happy with my presence, and as is usually the case, if you position yourself still and quite sat on a rock they will often come quite close to you once they have become relaxed with your presence in the area. This approach is much better than chasing them around the rocks with a mobile phone as many people seem to do.

As I walked along the shoreline I found a few dead seals. I guess that’s life, and of course where there is life there is always death.

The walk back to Stoupe Beck was beautiful once again. Home for lunch, with a memory card full of nice photographs after a fantastic morning in mother natures garden.

Ravenscar Seals – The Young Pups Born In November And December Are Starting To Loose Their White Fluffy Coats Now

Sadly Their Are Always Deaths In Nature And Seals Pass Away Too. This One Looks Like The Local Gull Population Has Taken Its Eyes Not Long After Its Death.

Seal Poo – If You Ever Wondered What It Looks Like. It Smells Horrendous too. The Smell of rotting fish in the area is quite something.
